Our Team

Dr Laurel

Founder & Head Veterinarian

Laurel has been a small animal vet for over 10 years and is passionate about animal care. It wasn’t until her own dog became unwell that she recognised the true blessing of being a vet - being able to provide loving hospice and ultimately, let her sweet girl pass peacefully and painlessly out in the sunshine in the backyard, with family all around.

She started Hold My Paws out of a hope to give other pets the same gentle passing, and their human companions the same chance to say goodbye on their own terms, creating indelible memories of the final moments with their beloved family member.

She is also Low Stress Handling Certified, mother to 3 cheeky birds, and godmother to Tilly the cavoodle.

Alex Ridnell

Veterinary Nurse

Alex brings over six years of veterinary nursing experience in general practice, emergency care, and exotics. Her background is as varied as it is meaningful.
She has worked at TV’s Bondi Vet, and also as a pet flight attendant at Pawmobile, safely guiding them through travel with the same care and attentiveness she brings to everything she does.

She has a natural way of connecting with both pets and their people. Her calm confidence and genuine warmth put everyone at ease, even in the most emotional moments. At her core, Alex is deeply compassionate and committed to animal care in all stages of their lives. She considers it a true privilege to support people through their pet’s final chapter, and is committed to making that farewell as peaceful, gentle, and loving as possible.

At home, Alex has her Springer X Cocker Spaniel, Thomas - a goofy, spoilt, bundle of joy.
