Our Team
Dr Laurel
Founder & Head Veterinarian
Laurel has been a small animal vet for over 10 years and is passionate about animal care. It wasn’t until her own dog became unwell that she recognised the true blessing of being a vet - being able to provide loving hospice and ultimately, let her sweet girl pass peacefully and painlessly out in the sunshine in the backyard, with family all around.
She started Hold My Paws out of a hope to give other pets the same gentle passing, and their human companions the same chance to say goodbye on their own terms, creating indelible memories of the final moments with their beloved family member.
She is also Low Stress Handling Certified, mother to 3 cheeky birds, and godmother to Tilly the cavoodle.
Alex Ridnell
Veterinary Nurse
Alex is our wonderful veterinary nurse, bringing over six years of experience across general practice, emergency care, and exotics. Working largely behind the scenes, she plays an integral role in caring for our families - and you may meet her when she gently returns your beloved pet’s ashes home.
She brings a warm, thoughtful presence to everything she does, shaped by years of hands-on experience caring for animals in a wide range of clinical settings. Alex has a natural way of connecting with both pets and their people, and her calm confidence and genuine kindness help put everyone at ease, even in the most emotional moments. She genuinely loves hearing stories about our patients, so please don’t hold back in sharing your favourite memories.
Her work is grounded in genuine compassion and a quiet attentiveness to each family’s experience. She feels privileged to support people through their pet’s final chapter, approaching each interaction with care, respect, and sensitivity.
At home, Alex shares her life with Thomas, her Springer x Cocker Spaniel - a goofy, spoilt bundle of joy.
